OK2B

OK2B

OK2B is a brand campaign that aims to destigmatize mental health awareness while also sparking inclusive, judgment-free conversations about mental wellness and treatment resources. OK2B seeks to support college students seeking mental health resources while specifically reaching out to BIPOC communities who have been disproportionately affected by institutional mental health stigmatization.

CONTEXT

CONTEXT

For this project, I worked with a team of five designers to create a brand campaign for mental health awareness. I took the lead in guiding our team in conducting and synthesizing user research and conceptualizing a brand identity that met the needs of our target audience — BIPOC college students. My primary responsibilities as Creative Director were to ensure that our team’s individual deliverables maintained a cohesive and inclusive visual style while also leading in designing a user interface for the brand’s website.

RESEARCH

RESEARCH

Our research for the campaign began with a literature review on mental health stigmatization and resources, highlighting the varied levels of stigma (self, societal, and institutional) and its significant impact on BIPOC communities. This insight motivated us to focus our campaign on these communities, aiming to celebrate diversity and inclusion.

A subsequent survey of college students revealed that positive discussions around mental health typically occur in trusted, safe spaces outside the home. An in-depth interview with a licensed counselor further emphasized the stigma and barriers BIPOC individuals face in accessing culturally appropriate mental health services. The combined findings from these research methods highlighted the need to address the stigma and lack of dialogue around mental health. As a result, our team developed the "OK2B campaign", targeting SF State students, to promote open, judgment-free conversations about mental wellness and accessible treatment resources.

DESIGN

For the final UI Design I collaborated with my teammate Jill to design a UI for desktop that prioritized storytelling. Our goals were to provide our audience with trusted mental health resources and an inclusive community where they could feel safe sharing their individual stories.
